An up-to-date descriptive atlas on the diagnosis of the main types of ectoparasitosis in dogs and cats. It covers the most relevant aspects of each parasite, using graphical resources to help identify these pathogens and decide on the actions to take in each case. The work is complemented with QR links to videos of collecting and processing samples and the visualization of some of these parasites under the microscope.

Patrick Bourdea

Degree in veterinary medicine from the Maison-Alfort Veterinary School, France, where he later held assistant and associate professor positions. He later transferred to the Nantes Veterinary College (ONIRIS). He is currently head professor of the Parasitology/Dermatology/Mycology Unit and of the attached clinic (including exotic and zoo animals) and diagnostic laboratory. He has trained as an expert in veterinary parasitology. His areas of interest include interactions between hosts and external parasites, the biology of external parasites (ticks, mites and fleas), the activity of external antiparasitic treatments and the epidemiology of parasitic dermatosis. He created the first veterinary dermatology unit in France (Nantes, 1991). He is also interested in allergies and hypersensitivities to arthropods, new concepts in diagnosis or treatment, epidemiology and relationships between dermatology, parasitology and mycology.
