Rafael Ruiz de Gopegui Fernández

Laia Solano Gallego holds a degree and PhD in Veterinary Medicine from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) (1996 and 2001, respectively), and is a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Clinical Pathology since 2006. She has worked as a clinician, researcher, and teacher in institutions including the College of Veterinary Medicine, North Carolina State University (USA) (2002–2003), the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of Purdue University (USA), where she completed an internship in pet veterinary medicine (2003–2004), the San Marco Private Veterinary Clinic and Laboratory (Italy) (2004–2007), and the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) of the University of London, where she served as Professor of Veterinary Clinical Pathology (2007–2011) and as a visiting professor (2012–2015). She currently works as a researcher and member of the teaching staff at the Department of Animal Medicine and Surgery of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UAB. She is also active in the field of diagnostics through her work as a clinical pathologist in collaboration with the Veterinary Clinical Haematology Service and the Clinical Veterinary Hospital of the UAB. Her research focuses on various aspects of infectious diseases, such as leishmaniasis, transmitted by arthropods to dogs and cats. She is the author of numerous articles on vector-borne infectious diseases and clinical pathologies in international scientific journals. She has also authored several chapters in internationally published books in her area of expertise.
